A closure order has been granted on a property within an over-55s housing community in Luton following ongoing concerns about anti-social behaviour.
Luton Council confirmed that a full closure order was issued for 27 Robert Allen Court, Langley Street, after repeated incidents linked to drug and alcohol misuse. The decision was made by Luton Magistrates’ Court on 22 December 2025 and will remain in place for three months.
Robert Allen Court provides housing for residents aged 55 and over. The property subject to the order was occupied by tenant David Duffy.
Authorities said a series of complaints had been received from other residents. These included intoxicated individuals visiting the address at all hours, excessive overnight noise, verbal abuse in shared areas, and damage to windows and garden furniture. The behaviour was reported to have had a significant impact on the wider community.
The council said the tenant had received multiple warnings from both the housing provider and the council’s Priority Anti-Social Behaviour Team. Despite this, the issues continued, leading to the decision to seek a closure order.
Councillor Maria Lovell, portfolio holder for community safety, said: “Everyone has the right to feel safe in their homes. Anti-social behaviour that disrupts the lives of others will not be tolerated. The closure order will help restore peace to the community and sends a clear message that we will take firm action to protect our residents.”
The closure order issued at the over-55s housing community prevents access to the property and is intended to reduce further disruption while protecting vulnerable residents.
