Extremely severe disruption means that Eurostar and Le Shuttle passengers have been advised to reconsider or reschedule their cross channel or pan-Western European travel plans.
Le Shuttle reported that services at the terminals in Folkestone, Kent and Calais, Hauts-de-France have been temporarily halted “due to a power supply issue”.
Several Eurostar routes connecting London St Pancras with European cities such as Paris, Lille, Brussels and Amsterdam have experienced delays or complete cancellations.
“We regret that trains that can run are subject to severe delays and last-minute cancellations,” a Eurostar spokesperson confirmed.
At least twelve Eurostar services between the UK, France, Belgium and the Netherlands have been cancelled, with many more experiencing delays or alterations.
The UK’s National Rail warned that major disruption is likely to continue until the end of the day.
Eurostar further advised: “Please don’t come to the station unless you already have a ticket to travel.” Passengers have also been advised to check Eurostar’s digital reporting services, as regular updates are being provided.
Passengers affected by the disruption are able to rearrange their travel at no extra cost or cancel bookings for a refund or an e-voucher.
Le Shuttle confirmed that teams are actively working to address the power supply problem.
