Man dies weeks after fatal Dorset crash on Ringwood Road in Verwood

A man has died in hospital almost four weeks after a serious road traffic collision in Dorset on Ringwood Road in Verwood. The collision involved three vehicles and happened shortly before Christmas.

Police said the incident took place on Ringwood Road near the St Stephen’s Lane junction at about 17.40 GMT on 23 December. A black Mini Cooper, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a BMW X3 were involved in the crash.

The driver of the Mini Cooper, a man in his 70s from the local area, was taken to hospital with serious injuries following the fatal Dorset crash. Dorset Police confirmed that he died on Monday.

The driver of the Vauxhall Corsa, a woman in her 50s, sustained minor injuries. The driver of the BMW X3 was not injured.

Dorset Police said enquiries are ongoing to understand how the fatal crash occurred. Officers from the roads policing team are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision.

Sgt Paul Hind, of the force’s roads policing team, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones of the man who sadly died following this collision.”

He added that officers were “working to establish the full circumstances” of the fatal Dorset crash and appealed for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to contact police.
