Southampton logistics firm secures three-year Channel Islands partnership extension

A Southampton logistics company has secured a new three-year contract extending its long-running partnership supporting freight deliveries to the Channel Islands.

Meachers Global Logistics will continue working with freight specialist Ferryspeed under the renewed agreement, which focuses on pallet distribution between mainland Britain and the islands.

Under the deal, Meachers will maintain its role providing southbound consolidation services – receiving goods from UK suppliers, grouping shipments together and preparing them for onward delivery by Ferryspeed to customers in Jersey and Guernsey.

The arrangement helps streamline the supply chain for businesses trading with the islands by reducing handling stages and improving coordination before goods leave the mainland.

The companies are also strengthening their operational ties on the ground. As part of the agreement, Ferryspeed will lease dedicated warehouse and office space within Meachers’ Southampton facilities, bringing the two teams closer together to speed up the movement of freight.

Gary Whittle, Operations Director at Meachers Global Logistics, said:

“We are delighted to extend our partnership with Ferryspeed. This agreement not only reflects the strength of our collaboration but also our shared vision for delivering high-quality logistics solutions to the Channel Islands.”

Meachers, headquartered in Southampton and operating across warehousing, transport and supply-chain management, has been providing logistics services for more than six decades.

Ferryspeed said the expanded partnership would support its plans to grow operations between the mainland and the islands.

Darren Lee, Head of Operations (UK) at Ferryspeed, added:

“This marks another important step in upholding the high standards expected by our customers. Strengthening the partnership between Ferryspeed and Meachers through these new facilities will play a key role in supporting our continued operational growth.”

The renewed contract reinforces a logistics link that keeps goods moving between UK businesses and Channel Islands customers, ensuring freight continues to flow efficiently through the Southampton gateway.
