Mercure Oxford Hawkwell House Awarded Green Key Award

Mercure Oxford Hawkwell House has been awarded the Green Key award for the first time, recognising its high environmental standards.

The 77-bedroom boutique hotel, located in Iffley, Oxford, received the certification from the internationally recognised Green Key programme, which celebrates hotels committed to sustainability and responsible tourism.

The Green Key programme is run in the UK by Keep Britain Tidy on behalf of the Foundation for Environmental Education and is known for its rigorous standards. Hawkwell House achieved the accreditation after thorough documentation and regular audits to ensure it maintains its environmental commitments.

Anuj Sagar, General Manager of Hawkwell House, said:
“I’m proud we have achieved this highly respected accreditation, which reflects our commitment to sustainability at the hotel. We’re dedicated to delivering an exceptional guest experience while minimising our impact on the environment. A big thank you goes to our team who have helped us achieve this milestone together.”

As part of its ongoing sustainability efforts, Hawkwell House installed EV chargers last year to provide guests, visitors, and locals with easy access to electric vehicle charging. The project was carried out in partnership with Oxfordshire-based charging operator EZ-Charge.

The hotel offers all-day dining in its main restaurant and lounge, along with year-round alfresco dining on the terrace. There are also three versatile event spaces for weddings, meetings, parties, and other events.

Conveniently located three miles from Oxford rail station and near the city’s southern bypass, Hawkwell House combines boutique charm with easy access.

Hawkwell House is now taking bookings for the festive season and continues to offer Afternoon Tea and Sunday Roast in Frank’s Restaurant and Terrace Bar.
