UoG graduates nominated for Royal Television Society awards

Twenty-three recent Film and TV Production graduates from University of Gloucestershire have been shortlisted for the Royal Television Society (RTS) West of England Student Awards 2026. 

The highly prestigious awards by the RTS – an educational charity promoting the art and science of television – recognise and celebrate the wealth of talent, creativity and innovation of students and graduates in the region. 

In the Drama category, Film and TV Production graduates Emma Coe, Daniel Wallis, Charlie Ellis, Oliver Gunnell, Ellie Potts, Meghan Robinson and Josh Perry have been shortlisted for Transient.

In the Factual – Short Form category, graduates Jessica Aoife Cain, Amie Zehnder, Sam Biddlecombe, Kaitlyn Cooper, Nohlan Inseque and Maya Barker are among the nominations for Helen.

In the Entertainment and Comedy Drama category, graduates Jack Fellows, Ben Cox, Connor Broadley, Markus Nilsson, Ethan Hughes have been shortlisted for Of Chavs and Men.

Nominated in the Journalism category – judged at national level only – is Clare’s Law by Phoebe Brooks, Connor Cross, Lauren Howe, Spandan Pokhrel and Jemma McCoubrey.

All the films were designed and created by the students as part of the Film and TV Production programme delivered by the University’s School of Arts, Culture and Environment, which features a range of high-tech creative and production facilities. 

The winners of this year’s RTS West of England Student Awards, to be announced at a ceremony in Bristol on 4 March, go forward to the RTS National Student Awards ceremony in April where they will compete against other regional winners. 

Films made on the University’s BA (Hons) Film and TV Production course have a strong track record at RTS National Student Awards ceremonies, with Delicious Love winning Best Comedy in 2019, Dead Canary shortlisted for Best Drama in 2020, Paper Round Boy winning Best Drama in 2021, Signed Marlo shortlisted for Best Drama in 2022, I’ll Just Have Cats winning Best Factual in 2024 and The Face winning Best Comedy in 2025.

We wish all the nominated teams well at the awards ceremony on 4 March and hope all our graduates continue to enjoy success in their careers within the television and film industries.”
