Wiltshire Council is set to decide on proposals to build 33 affordable homes on former NHS land next to the Devizes Health Centre. The development would consist of 60 per cent social housing and 40 per cent shared ownership properties.
The planned homes will include a variety of dwellings: one and two-bedroom flats, three and four-bedroom houses, and two-bedroom bungalows. The council said its approach of 100 per cent affordable housing “reflects the significant local need for affordable homes.”
The Eastern Planning Area committee will consider aspects such as appearance, landscaping, and layout at a meeting on Thursday. NHS Property Services received outline planning permission for the site last year.
Council planning officers are recommending approval, while Devizes Town Council described the proposals as “desirable” but raised concerns about potential noise from the air source heat pumps to be installed in the homes.
Wiltshire Council added that the development “provides a range of dwelling types, flats, houses, and bungalows, supporting different household sizes and including provision for older and less mobile residents.”
The scheme aims to address local housing needs while offering a mix of home types suitable for families, older adults, and residents requiring accessible accommodation.
