Ansvar Insurance surpasses £25,000 fundraising goal for charities across Sussex and the UK

Ansvar Insurance has exceeded its £25,000 fundraising target, raising £25,216 for 16 charities through a year-long programme driven entirely by staff.

The Brighton-based specialist insurer, which works with charities, not-for-profits, faith groups and care organisations, launched its ‘£25k in 25’ initiative in January 2025. The aim was straightforward but demanding: to raise £25,000 in a single year through employee-led fundraising alone.

What followed was a packed calendar of physical challenges and community events, sparked by an idea from employee Shaun Utting and embraced across the business. Staff took part in everything from cold-water sea swims and marathon runs to bake-offs and knitting poppies for the Poppy Appeal.

The standout moment came in May, when Ansvar staff faced off against broker partners in a charity football match at Brighton & Hove Albion’s Amex Stadium. The match raised £10,460 for Esteem, a Sussex charity supporting young people to build confidence and resilience.

The campaign concluded in December with a more sobering challenge. Employees Fran Leadbetter and Julienne Jones spent a night sleeping rough in Brighton as part of the Big Sleep Out, raising funds and awareness for homelessness support services.

In total, the initiative supported a broad mix of national and local causes, including organisations working with children, young people, veterans, older people, and those affected by serious illness or hardship.

Samantha Sanderson, Marketing Executive at Ansvar, said:
“We are thrilled to have reached our target and are incredibly proud of the passion and creativity shown by our team. From the freezing temperatures of a February sea dip to the final Christmas quiz, our colleagues have pushed their personal limits to support the sectors we insure every day.

“To have helped 16 different organisations has been incredibly rewarding. Every penny raised will make a real difference to the charities, from local Sussex organisations to national causes. It’s a testament to what can be achieved when people come together for a good cause.”

The campaign reflects Ansvar’s wider approach to social impact. As part of the Benefact Group, the company donates all available profits to good causes, extending its support for the charity and not-for-profit sector beyond insurance.

Charities supported through the £25k in 25 initiative include Age UK, Alzheimer’s Society, Anthony Nolan, Children with Cancer Fund, Clock Tower Sanctuary, Diabetes UK, Esteem, Just Life, Macmillan Cancer Support, Off The Fence, Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare, Rockinghorse, Royal British Legion, Sands, Stand Up To Cancer and Young Lives vs Cancer.
