A housebuilder has marked the launch of a major new Surrey development by supporting Age UK Surrey’s campaign to get people active to promote healthy ageing with a £5,000 donation.
Taylor Wimpey South Thames joined forces with the charity to support a wide range of events throughout 2025 and 2026, whilst also marking the start of its new Wisley Acres community in Ockham.
Wisley Acres is an emerging community of 1,730-homes in Ockham which officially launched for sale in July. The regeneration of the former Wisley Airfield also comprises a wide range of community facilities including shops, cafes, healthcare, education, a large Country Park and sports facilities.*
Ahead of the launch, Taylor Wimpey’s partnership with Age UK Surrey enabled the charity to hold a day out at Hurlands Pickleball and Padel Club in Farnham. Participants from across the county enjoyed coaching sessions, round-robin matches, lunch on the mezzanine and a raffle.
The visit was arranged as part of the charity’s Age Better Together in Surrey campaign, which was created to encourage adults to improve their long-term health and wellbeing by taking part in regular physical activity.
Tori Haines, Fundraising Campaign Co‑ordinator at Age UK Surrey, said: “We had a fantastic day at Hurlands and were so pleased with how many people turned up. Events like this are a brilliant way to inspire people to step outside their comfort zone and keep active, which is the aim of our Age Better Together in Surrey campaign. They also provide an opportunity for social connection which is so important for our cognitive health.
“There was a great atmosphere throughout the day, and thanks to Taylor Wimpey we were able to host our first Charity Pickleball Day. Throughout 2025/2026 their £5,000 donation has helped to contribute to many great days out for a wide range of people and we are so grateful for their generous sponsorship.”
Among the other events that Taylor Wimpey’s donation has supported were a tea and dance at the Westway Community Centre in Caterham and Age UK Surrey’s annual Christmas Carol service at the Guildford Cathedral. The Carol service is a special event for the community as the charity helps to coordinate access for those who may find it difficult to attend other carol services. Many from the Blind Veterans UK to residents in care homes across Surrey mark this day in their calendars.
