There’s still time to get yourself down to the free healthcare pop-up event on Boscombe High Street

From Monday 6th October, staff and students from the Health Sciences University will open the doors to its 6-day health and support pop-up event on Boscombe High Street.

Located at the Boscombe Arts Depot at 616-622 Christchurch Road, opposite Costa Coffee, the event is aimed at fostering positive health and community well-being and is a one-stop shop that allows people to access free health and support advice all under one roof.

This will run for six days from Monday 6th until Saturday 11th October, from 10am to 4pm, where the local community will have access to a range of free services provided by Health Sciences University students and staff.

Community Action Network and Help & Care will also be at the pop-up event throughout the week, providing additional support and advice.

The pop-up event as a whole will offer a range of free health and support services, including both practical health tests as well as interactive services – where information will be provided by the Health Sciences University together with local partners CAN (Community Action Network) and Help & Care.

The free services provided include NHS health checks for those aged 40-74, chiropractic triage, diabetics, physio health, blood pressure and BMI checking, exercise and massage sessions, podiatry, speech and language therapy and children and babies triage.

There will also be additional one-off sessions available, including a well-being session with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

Chiropractic Clinic Lead at Health Sciences University and one of the organisers of the event, Daniel Heritage, said: “As Health Sciences University is based in the centre of Boscombe, it is important to support our local community, offering a range of healthcare services, as well as providing a unique learning experience for our students.

It is also really important for us to work with our community partners who can provide additional support and signpost people to a wide range of other services, so members of the Boscombe community can get the support and care they need.”

The exact location of the pop-up is: the Boscombe Arts Depot, 616-622 Christchurch Road, Boscombe, Bournemouth BH1 4BP.

Members of the public are invited to drop in between 10am – 4pm from 6th to 11th October, and a daily timetable of services and events has been published on the HSU website, that can be found here.
