Jet2 Predicts Major August Bank Holiday Getaway as Hundreds of Thousands Head Overseas

A major overseas getaway is expected this August Bank Holiday, with Jet2 preparing to fly hundreds of thousands of customers away over the long weekend.

The leading leisure airline and UK’s largest tour operator is reporting bookings are up compared to the same period last year, pointing to strong demand for one final summer escape before September routines return.

With over 2,000 flights operating to 63 destinations between Friday 28th and Monday 31st August, customers will be heading away from across the UK, with Saturday expected to be the busiest getaway day of the weekend.

Jet2 says that this demand for end of summer holidays continues into September and October too.

Sunshine favourites continue to dominate Bank Holiday travel plans. Majorca is the most popular destination for Jet2 customers, followed by Tenerife, Antalya, Dalaman and Lanzarote.

The top five mirror last year’s most in-demand destinations, although Antalya has moved from fourth to third place this year, highlighting the continued popularity of Türkiye (Turkey) with UK holidaymakers.

David Hills, Chief Customer Officer at Jet2, said: “The August Bank Holiday is always an important travel weekend, and the level of demand we are seeing this year shows just how keen people still are to get away and make the most of the summer.

“This demand does not stop at the end of August. We are continuing to see strong appetite for holidays through September and October, so there is plenty of summer still to come.

“Customers are choosing Jet2 because they know they will get great value, plenty of choice and the award-winning customer service they expect from us.”
