WORK to create 139 new homes in Watchet is progressing well, with sales launching soon.
Edenstone is preparing to open a show home at its Underwood Gardens development, taking shape on land south of Doniford Road and Normandy Avenue.
The homes under construction will enjoy a stunning setting, with views of the Quantock Hills, open fields where horses graze and with steam trains passing by.
Edenstone operations director Chris Edge said: “We’ve received dozens of enquiries about our new homes in Watchet, with strong interest from prospective buyers. Many are attracted by the rare opportunity to own a new build bungalow, while the development will also offer spacious family homes.
“The setting of these new homes is something that truly needs to be experienced in person, which is why we’re waiting until the show home is complete before releasing the properties for sale. The show home has been thoughtfully styled by our interior designers, who have drawn inspiration from the nearby coastline and surrounding countryside. While we’re not quite ready to launch just yet, the good news is that a small number of properties will be ready to move into this autumn, giving buyers the chance to settle into an energy efficient new home before the colder months arrive.”
There will be a total of 90 private sale properties across the development, with bungalows accounting for 26 of the homes being built.
There will be two and three-bedroom bungalows, plus a choice of two-storey four-bedroom homes.
Designed to reflect the charm and character of Watchet, the homes will feature a combination of natural stone and render finishes.

Prices will be announced at the launch.
Affordable housing will account for the remaining 35% of Underwood Gardens. This will include one and two-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom coach houses, plus two, three and four-bedroom homes available for intermediate and social rent via a registered social landlord.
The new neighbourhood will enjoy a leafy setting, with homes set along tree-lined streets, with green corridors to support local wildlife and add to the development’s rural charm.
Along with new homes, Edenstone will be creating a village green, a hilltop park with play area, community orchard and seating areas looking towards the Quantock Hills and the Severn Estuary.
Most homes will include electric vehicle charging points, supporting more sustainable living.
To support the growth of the neighbourhood, Edenstone will make community contributions worth more than £750,000. Local pre-school and primary education will be the main beneficiaries, plus funding to encourage sustainable transport.
