Zopa, the British digital bank pioneer with 2 million customers, has today launched the UK’s most advanced AI capabilities for everyday banking.
Part of Zopa’s award-winning Biscuit account, “Ask Zopa” is designed to help millions of Brits manage their money simply by asking.
Built on Zopa’s proprietary AI platform and agentic architecture, it enables customers to manage their everyday finances, complete day-to-day banking tasks such as payments and money transfers, and better plan their financial lives, making customers’ interactions more human and intuitive.
For example, for the first time, Brits can split a restaurant bill, settle invoices and send money to friends simply by asking. Just snap a photo of a bill and tell Zopa what you need, by voice or in the chat, and it takes care of the rest.
Zopa’s move into conversational banking elevates the customer experience beyond static app journeys to an intelligent, agentic system that understands, remembers, and personalises experiences with tailored guidance in real time.
Using “Ask Zopa” customers can now:
· Manage and automate everyday finances: Send money simply by asking, request payments, split bills from a receipt image, or pay invoices instantly by uploading a photo. Prompt example: Pay George my share of the bill.
· Complete day-to-day banking tasks: View balances, manage cards, check statements, update details and handle everyday banking tasks simply by asking. Prompt example: Create a new saving pot for my summer travels.
· Plan and optimise your finances: Set savings goals, create budgets, and receive suggestions on how to save more or afford upcoming payments by simply telling your bank what to do using normal language. Prompt example: Help me save £150 by the end of the year; Warn me if I’m about to spend more than £100 on takeaways this month.
Clare Gambardella, Chief Customer Officer at Zopa Bank, said: “Zopa is ushering in a new era of banking — one where managing your money is as simple as having a conversation. “Ask Zopa” redefines the role of a bank in our customers’ lives, from simplifying day to day tasks and money management to actively helping people plan, save and make smarter decisions in real time. Our ambition is to build a banking app that can anticipate needs, unlock opportunities and give customers complete control, confidence and clarity over their money every day.”
The new AI capabilities build on Zopa’s continued investment in artificial intelligence, including its proprietary agentic platform and financial insights, data enrichment, and analysis engine.
Zopa is using AI to enhance the customer experience, with customers who interact with AI reporting 10% higher CSAT satisfaction scores. Internally, employees are also using GenAI to boost productivity, with AI now resolving 65% of customer service queries. Where human expertise is needed, AI-powered training modules help employees onboard and upskill faster.
The same focus on personalised experiences underpins Zopa’s Biscuit bank account, which lets customers tailor their account to the benefits that matter most — from more interest on their balance and greater cashback on purchases, to top-table savings rates.
Zopa’s technological innovation is matched by strong financial performance and governance.
The bank announced its third consecutive year of profitability, with pre-tax profits of £65 million for the financial year ending 31 December 2025. It has recently appointed to its Board Bruce Fletcher, former NatWest Group Chief Risk Officer, and Dr Paula Walter, former Aldermore Group Chief Technology and Information Officer, as Independent Non-Executive Directors.
Zopa was voted the UK’s Best App for 2026 at the British Banks Awards.
One of the UK’s highest-rated and most celebrated financial brands, it has won more than 10 British Bank Awards, holds a 4.6/5 rating on Trustpilot, and consistently receives among the highest customer satisfaction scores in the industry.
