Fulham boss Alvaro Arbeloa is now favourite with the bookmakers to be the first Premier League boss to be relieved of his duties.
The Cottagers have endured a wretched start to life under Arbeloa, who arrived at Craven Cottage in the summer as a replacement for Benfica-bound Marco Silva. Fulham are bottom of the top flight table with zero wins from their first six matches of the season.
Their latest outing, away at newly-promoted Ipswich last Saturday, saw the Cottagers end up with no points despite leading going into the 88th minute. Ryan Sessegnon had given Fulham the lead just after half-time but they proceeded to concede twice in the space of three minutes when Abdoul Ouattara and then Dara O’Shea struck for the Tractor Boys to turn the game on its head.
As a result, Fulham’s manager is now outright favourite with Betfair to be the first top flight manager to get the dreaded chop.
Betfair spokesperson James Mackie said: “Odds have been slashed on Alvaro Arbeloa to be the first Premier League manager to leave their role during the 2026/27 season with the Fulham boss now the clear favourite at 13/8, having been 5/2 prior to their latest defeat against Ipswich on Saturday. Arbeloa is followed by previous frontrunner Michael Carrick, who is now 3/1, having been 2/1. Meanwhile, Roberto De Zerbi has drifted to 9/2 from 5/2. Matthias Jaissle is into 12/1 from 18/1 following Newcastle’s shock 4-1 defeat to newly-promoted Coventry, while Frank Lampard has seen his odds go out to 14/1 from 9/1 following the Sky Blues’ second win of the campaign.”
